The tower was largely constructed from prefab concrete elements. A unique colour was developed for the exposed concrete. The balconies, parapets and framing elements were made of aesthetic concrete. The Cool district, of which the Baankwartier is part, has been designated as part of the high-rise city. At the place where the relics of the reconstruction determine the street scene, the skyline of Rotterdam is enriched with the Cooltower. The tower is much more than a stack of apartments until the maximum building height is reached. She relates to her environment at different levels, on a large and small scale. The ‘Rotterdam layer’ and the commonly used building height of approximately 70 meters are a major determining factor here. And of course the base and top of the tower.
