The Lauwerecht is an extension of the Oudegracht and Bemuurd Weerd, north of the city center. Previously, Lauwerecht was an out-of-court court and an independent rural community. Today, Lauwerecht as a neighborhood is part of the sub-district Votulast, whose name is a collection of the first two letters of the neighborhoods Vogelenbuurt, Tuinwijk, Lauwerecht and Staatsliedenbuurt.
