Our apartment is conveniently located in the downtown area. If you like staying in the city centre but one or two blocks away from the nightlife of the city, this is the right place for you. The main shopping streets are within 2 minutes walking distance. All around are great restaurants, grocery stores, bars, cafés, museums and historical attractions. It is a great location with series of sights, interesting historic buildings and architectural diversity.

SHOPPING STREETS
These main shopping streets in the downtown area are a home to a wealth of shops, restaurants and bars, all appealing to different tastes. You can find boutiques with high-end products, most of which are Icelandic designed and produced. It also has many tourist shops selling all sorts of souvenirs. There is a wealth of restaurants that have a diverse selection of menus. Some of these are traditionally Icelandic, but there are cuisines from all around the world, and some establishments are even fusion restaurants of diverse cultures. It's in a 2 minute walking distance. Krónan grocery store is located on Hallveigarstígur, just on the next corner. It is a great self service grocery store, with a great selection of standard groceries, but also a lot of ready made food and sandwiches. It's in a 1 minute walking distance.

CAFÉS, RESTAURANTS AND BARS
Kramber is just located on the next corner. In fact you can see it outside the living room window. Kramber is both a wine bar and a cafe that offers good coffee and quality wine, beer, light cocktails and bistro dishes. It's in a 1 minute walking distance.

Kaffifélagið is probably the smallest coffee bar in the country. At Kaffifélagið you can buy coffee and drink it on the spot or have it to go. Kaffifélagið has a large selection of Italian espresso beans, which can also be ground for any coffee machine. There are Italian espresso machines all over the walls and essential accessories. It's in a 2 minute walking distance.

Hannesarholt is a house once owned by Hannes Hafstein in the beginning of the 20th century. Hannes was a politician and a poet. Hannesarholt is now a lovely café and a scandinavian restaurant. Einar Jónsson was Iceland ́s first sculptor. He was a groundbreaking figure in Icelandic sculpture and his influence on the visual arts in Iceland has been considerable, though indirect. He moved permanently back to Iceland in 1920 at the age of 46 and resided there until his death in 1954. The museum also has a sculpture garden. The Einar Jónsson museum is in a 7 minute walking distance.

Hallgrímskirkja is a Lutheran church, located on top of the Skólavörðustígur in the centre of Reykjavík. At 74.5 meters (245 feet) tall, it is the largest church in Iceland, and its tower offers a spectacular panoramic view over the city. It's in a 7 minute walking distance.
