Our apartment is conveniently located in the downtown area. If you like staying in the city centre but one or two blocks away from the nightlife of the city, this is the right place for you. The main shopping streets are within 2 minutes walking distance. All around are great restaurants, grocery stores, bars, cafés, museums and historical attractions. It is a great location with series of sights, interesting historic buildings and architectural diversity.

SHOPPING STREETS
These main shopping streets in the downtown area are a home to a wealth of shops, restaurants and bars, all appealing to different tastes. You can find boutiques with high-end products, most of which are Icelandic designed and produced. It also has many tourist shops selling all sorts of souvenirs. There is a wealth of restaurants that have a diverse selection of menus. Some of these are traditionally Icelandic, but there are cuisines from all around the world, and some establishments are even fusion restaurants of diverse cultures. It's in a 2 minute walking distance. Krónan grocery store is located on Hallveigarstígur, just on the next corner. It is a great self service grocery store, with a great selection of standard groceries, but also a lot of ready made food and sandwiches. It's in a 1 minute walking distance.

CAFÉS, RESTAURANTS AND BARS
Kramber is just located on the next corner. In fact you can see it outside the living room window. Kramber is both a wine bar and a cafe that offers good coffee and quality wine, beer, light cocktails and bistro dishes. It's in a 1 minute walking distance.

Kaffifélagið is probably the smallest coffee bar in the country. At Kaffifélagið you can buy coffee and drink it on the spot or have it to go. Kaffifélagið has a large selection of Italian espresso beans, which can also be ground for any coffee machine. There are Italian espresso machines all over the walls and essential accessories. It's in a 2 minute walking distance.

Hannesarholt is a house once owned by Hannes Hafstein in the beginning of the 20th century. Hannes was a politician and a poet. Hannesarholt is now a lovely café and a scandinavian restaurant. A real pearl in the heart of Reykjavík and excellent cultural atmosphere. It's in a 3 minute walking distance.

Mokka café. An Icelandic tradition since 1958. Mokka is one of the oldest cafés and the first one to make coffee with an espresso machine - espresso, cappuccino, and café latte. Mokka also serves hot chocolate and their famous waffles. It's in a 2 minute walking distance.

Krua Thai opened in 2001 to serve the best authentic Thai food in the heart of Reykjavik. With a two-storey building, Krua Thai offers the greatest views to the Hallgrimskirkja. The Krua Thai team creates a sophisticated menu daily combining Thai herbs and ingredients with fresh local Icelandic vegetables and seafood. It's in a 3 minute walking distance.

Ghandi is an Indian restaurant in the city center of Reykjavík. Our chefs are all fromIndia and can cook food from all four corners of India. It's in a 1 minute walking distance.

Sjávargrillið is a lovely seafood restaurant, situated in the heart of Reykjavik offering a wide menu were the dishes are made from the freshest ingredients. It's in a 3 minute walking distance.

Snaps is a bistro and a bar and became the ‘it’ place in Reykjavík from the moment it opened. The menu is a mix of French, Danish and Icelandic cuisine and is rather small. The ingredients are Icelandic but the dishes are French and you also have the option of ordering Danish smörrebröd. It's in a 2 minute walking distance.

Ölstofan is a bar for people who like to keep things simple. Ölstofan is frequented by local artists, writers and other intellectuals, and the clientele is mostly 30+. It's in a 3 minute walking distance.

Hús Máls og Menningar is a great place to enjoy Live Music in Reykjavik. Located in the heart of downtown and open from noon to late evening, we're the perfect spot for you to stop by, enjoy coffee, pastries, beer, libations and live music. It's in a 3 minute walking distance.

Dillon is a Whiskey Bar known for it’s warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and great costumers. With over 180 types of whiskey at any time, great classic rock music and being in one of the oldest wood houses in Reykjavík gives its uniqueness that we are proud of. To sum it up, great service, huge selection for whiskey lovers, plenty of Icelandic beer, live music, karaoke and the legendary DJ Andrea (hidden) on weekends. It's in a 5 minute walking distance.

MUSEUMS, CULTURE AND NATURE

Einar Jónsson was Iceland ́s first sculptor. He was a groundbreaking figure in Icelandic sculpture and his influence on the visual arts in Iceland has been considerable, though indirect. He moved permanently back to Iceland in 1920 at the age of 46 and resided there until his death in 1954. The museum also has a sculpture garden. The Einar Jónsson museum is in a 7 minute walking distance.

Hallgrímskirkja is a Lutheran church, located on top of the Skólavörðustígur in the centre of Reykjavík. At 74.5 meters (245 feet) tall, it is the largest church in Iceland, and its tower offers a spectacular panoramic view over the city. It's in a 7 minute walking distance.

The Icelandic Punk museum is situated in one of Reykjavik most prolific spots. At Bankastraeti Zero, the old public toilets in the bottom of the main street. Seeing is believing. It's in a 5 minute walking distance.

Tjörnin (The Pond) is one of the most popular recreational localities in Reykjavík, almost impossible to miss given its central location to downtown. Its surrounding area represents the very best of the capital’s character, radiating a delicate balance between authentic urban development and enchanting nature. At the southeast foot of the pond can be found Hljómskálagarður Park, a green area intercut with trees and footpaths well frequented by the city’s joggers and cyclists. It's in a 9 minute walking distance.

The National Gallery of Iceland is a national museum and the main emphasis of the collection is on 20th and 21st century Icelandic art, but international art is featured as well. The museum owns the most valuable collection of works by Icelandic artists in the country. The National Gallery of Iceland regularly holds exhibitions reflecting its collection. The National Gallery of Iceland also hosts exhibitions by individual artists, Icelandic as well as foreign ones. It's in a 5 minute walking distance.

Sundhöllin is a thermal pool is an indoor pool with an outdoor Jacuzzi and hot pots. Just a short distance from the center of town, it is the oldest pool in Reykjavík. The pool is always popul
